Galaxy S5: delete Samsung apps - how it works
With the Galaxy S5, Samsung again provides a large number of pre-installed apps that you simply cannot delete. This practical tip shows you how to avoid bloatware anyway.
Samsung Galaxy S5: hide apps instead of deleting them
Out of sight, out of mind: If your Galaxy S5 is not rooted, you can simply make the Samsung apps disappear. The mostly unusable apps often fill the app drawer, i.e. the app menu of your mobile phone, unnecessarily.
- If you no longer want to see the apps, you can hide them in the drawer by tapping "Settings".
- Tap "Hide apps" and select all the apps you want to hide. You will then only see them again if you make them visible again in the same way.
Samsung Galaxy S5: disable apps
Constant updates and processes in the background weaken the battery and thus the performance of the flagship immensely. Without root, you can at least "disempower" Samsung apps by deactivating them in the settings.
- First you have to navigate to the submenu "Application Manager" in the settings menu.
- There you will find all installed apps and active processes. Select the respective apps and tap "Deactivate". An inactive app is almost deleted.
- Unfortunately, a deactivated app still takes up space on your smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S5: delete apps with root
- If you root your Galaxy S5 you can quickly and easily remove the Samsung apps from your device.
- This works for example with free root apps.
- Those who root can reliably delete bloatware. However, it is important that the manufacturer's guarantee expires irrevocably when rooting.
We will show you how to reset your Galaxy S5 to the factory settings in the next practical tip.
