Galaxy S8: Create and use a secure folder
On the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S8 there is the "Secure Folder" function. This partitioned memory secures your data against unauthorized access, for example via USB, when you charge the cell phone in a public place. Here's how to work with the secure folder.
Use a secure folder on the Samsung Galaxy series
Please note that the "Secure Folder" must first be installed as an app on the Galaxy devices of the 7 series. To set up the folder on all devices:
- First open the menu and select "Settings".
- In the "Device Security" section you can then activate "Secure Folder".
- With a tap on "Start" you get an introduction to the functions of the "Secure Folder".
- Finally, you have to tap "Confirm" and log in with your Samsung account. If you do not have an account, you can create a free account.
- A new tile called "Secure Folder" will appear on your home screen.
Samsung Galaxy: Use secure folder
As soon as you open the app, you will be presented with four options: "Protect", "Add apps", "Add files" and "Edit apps":
- Protect: allows you to close and lock the folder
- Add apps: You can move all apps on the device to the safe folder. New apps can also be installed directly here.
- Add files: As the name already explains, use this to place files in the folder.
- Edit apps: You can either remove apps or create a shortcut for the home screen.
- Tip: You can add email accounts for the secure folder using the menu with the three dots. You can also specify which notifications can be displayed on the lock screen and create a backup.
