Compile gaming PC - you should pay attention to this
If you put together a gaming PC, you have to consider a few things before buying. We show you what you have to take into account for the perfect gaming PC.
Important factors when assembling a gaming PC
Basically, the following applies: A gaming PC has to perform better and therefore has to be equipped differently than a pure office PC. You should therefore pay attention to the following factors:
- RAM: It is best to use at least 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. The reason: if you have enough RAM, you can cache more, which will benefit your gaming enjoyment. As a rule of thumb, the more RAM, the smoother the game runs. However, please note that a 32-bit system can address a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, which is why you should use a 64-bit system.
- Graphics card: Choose a graphics card that has at least 2 GB of memory. It is also advisable to choose a high memory clock from 800 MHz. In addition, the graphics card should be a PCI card. Even in the case of the graphics card, the higher RAM and the higher memory clock means that graphics can be loaded faster and you therefore have a smoother gaming experience. The best models can be found in our graphics card ranking.
- Processor: Always make sure that the socket on the motherboard matches the socket on the CPU and it is best to choose a processor that consists of at least four cores. For Intel processors, pay attention to the exact designation: a Core i7 does not necessarily have to be faster than a Core i5 processor. The first digit behind tells you which generation it is, for example, the Intel Core i5-4200 belongs to the fourth generation, while an Intel Core i7-4700 belongs to the third generation. The best models can be found in our CPU ranking.
- Mainboard: The mainboard is one of the most essential elements when putting together a gaming PC. Therefore, pay attention to one or more PCI Express slots and ensure that they are operated at full power. With RAM, four slots are usually worthwhile. Make sure that the RAM is supported by the mainboard. The sound chip on the motherboard is usually sufficient and only if you value very high music quality, you should use a separate sound card. Furthermore, the mainboard should have several fan connections, which allow targeted control of the fans due to temperature sensors. When buying a motherboard, always ask yourself what you want to connect and include enough connections that should be available. The best models can be found in our mainboard ranking.
- Hard drive: Since newer games usually require a larger storage space, which often breaks the 40 GB mark, your PC should be equipped for this. Therefore, choose a hard drive that is at least 1 TB in size so that it does not get full too quickly with several games. For a faster system start, an additional SSD hard disk is recommended, on which you only install the operating system.
- Housing: The housing should be equipped with many fans that work as quietly as possible. It is also important to have many USB interfaces, because this way you can connect several accessories to your computer. In addition, there is a power supply that best has 600 watts.
- Accessories: So that you can play with your gaming PC optimally, the right accessories must not be missing. Therefore, grab special gaming headsets, mice and keyboards.
