GData: Carry out an offline update - so it'll work
If one of your computers is not connected to the Internet, you can also update the GData virus database using an offline update. In this practical tip, we will show you how.
Perform offline update for GData virus database - how it works
Note: You cannot download the latest version of the virus database from GData. You have to export the database from a PC with GData in order to import it again on the desired PC. Depending on the version used, the following instructions may differ slightly:
- Start the anti-virus software from GData on a PC with an Internet connection and open the "Settings" there.
- Go to the "AntiVirus" category on the left and select "Updates".
- If you click the "Virus signature import / export" button on the right, another window opens.
- Select the location of the virus database here and complete the process.
- Transfer the saved database with a USB stick to the second computer without an internet connection.
- Do the same there. After clicking on "Virus signature import / export" you can now import the database from the USB stick.
