Dangerous Facebook error: That's why you should be careful when commenting
Do you sometimes comment on Facebook under seemingly harmless posts? In retrospect, doing so could turn out to be a big mistake. We'll show you why in this article.
Facebook: supposedly harmless comments on questions
With seemingly harmless questions, more and more people are trying to get their data on social media. You should therefore be particularly careful when commenting.
- In order to get so-called "engagement" on social media, many marketing people rely on personal questions. Users can then respond to these and thus become part of a discussion. However, these personal questions can become a major security risk for you.
- The questions themselves seem mostly harmless and inconspicuous. Examples are: "What was the name of your first pet?", "What is your mother's first name?", "What was the first concert you were ever at?".
- The only problem is that these are often security issues on other websites. So as soon as an attacker has your email and answers to a few of these security questions, you are suddenly vulnerable.
- This information can be used to reset your passwords, read out personal details and take control of your accounts. So be careful when answering these questions and, if in doubt, do not.
One answer, big effect
Careless commenting can have very different consequences besides a security risk. Because the willingness to publish his data is often tested using the comment function.
- Sometimes posts are simply used to test how much of your own share. In fact, if you post personal information in a post, it is likely that you have done so in the past.
- All the attackers have to do is search your profile for information and save it. By commenting, you are giving an indication that valuable things could be on your profile.
- If you want to prevent your data from being misused, you should not comment without hesitation, but rather be careful on Facebook and co. let it prevail.
