Detect fake Nikon D800E - the criteria
Fraudsters have launched counterfeit Nikon D800E cameras. We'll show you how to spot the counterfeits.
How is the Nikon D800E counterfeited?
- The Nikon D800E is a slightly modified version of the Nikon D800. However, the D800E has become much more expensive and has become a favorite with counterfeiters.
- Unfortunately, not much is necessary for the vertigo. Only the lettering of the D800 camera was changed to D800E by a letter. A simple change that turns a camera into a supposedly better and therefore more expensive camera.
- According to current information, the fake Nikon D800E models were only sold online via auction platforms such as Ebay.
- Nikon said the company will not offer a guarantee for these counterfeit cameras. Even an examination or repair of the models is not offered. You can use the following criteria to check whether you have received a counterfeit.
The criteria: How to recognize a fake Nikon D800E
- The change in the lettering can usually not be seen. It is assumed that original covers of the D800E have been placed on the D800 models.
- There is only one sign that you can really tell whether you have a real or fake Nikon D800E. You have to read out the model number via the overview display.
- Take a picture with your camera and display it on the monitor. The correct model number of your camera is shown in the top right of the single image playback. If this matches the label, you have no counterfeit.
- If you don't see the model number at all, you have to activate the "overview display". You can find out how this works in the Nikon D800 (E) user guide.
