Recognizing fake perfumes: you have to pay attention to that
You can recognize fake perfumes by various characteristics. A careful check will tell you whether you have a bargain or a fake in front of you.
Packaging & sales: How to recognize a counterfeit perfume
You can often tell from the packaging and at the point of sale that you have a fake perfume in front of you. These features indicate plagiarism:
- You should pay attention to the retailer both online and in stores. At market stalls, for example, you should refrain from buying expensive perfumes - if it is a plagiarism, you cannot exchange it when the stand is dismantled.
- Always check on the Internet whether an online shop is serious before you order.
- If you hold a perfume in your hands, you should first take a close look at the packaging. Does the appearance differ from the original?
- If the print on the packaging is printed obliquely, faded or contains spelling mistakes, it is definitely a plagiarism.
- The film with which the packaging is sealed also helps you to identify whether the perfume is fake. If the seam is unclean and the film smells very strong, you should refrain from buying it.
- Pay attention to the sizes in which the perfume is sold. The sales sizes of counterfeit perfumes often differ from the original packaging sizes.
- If you know which perfume you want to buy before you shop, it is worth looking at the original perfume online. This way you know exactly what the packaging should look like and which sizes are sold.
- Also pay attention to the serial number on the packaging, but also on the bottle. If you can't find them or you just have a sticker attached to them, it's probably a fake.
Recognize plagiarism on the bottle
If you can open the packaging in the shop or if you already have the perfume in front of you, there are also various indications on the bottle that indicate a fake fragrance.
- Find out what the bottle of the original perfume looks like. Do the vials exactly match?
- Feel the bottle: is the glass badly made? Edges and uneven areas indicate that you are holding a fake perfume in your hands.
- You should also pay attention to the quality of the lid. If it is made of a cheap material, you should refrain from buying it.
- The scent of counterfeit perfumes often smells strongly of alcohol. Even if the scent is very similar to the original: if it flies very quickly after use, it is also a plagiarism.
