With the latest drivers and the latest version of Geforce Experience, you reduce the risk that your games cannot be optimized.
If games can't be optimized through Geforce Experience, the program may not be able to find them. You can fix this with "Add file path".
By deleting the user files, the program is forced to create all configuration files again. In many cases, this can be the solution to the problem.
Sometimes it can happen that Geforce Experience does not recognize your installed game and therefore optimization via the program is not possible. Fortunately, this is no reason to give up, because the adjustments can still be made in a few detours. Find out which options are available to you below:
- First check via the driver tab whether your installed drivers are up to date. With a graphics card from the Nvidia GTX series, you ensure that you can use all the functions of the Geforce Experience.
- It often helps to start the installed game once, close it again and then run the optimization process again.
- If you have previously made settings in the game, close Geforce Experience and go into the game. Reset the settings and exit the application. Then start Geforce Experience and the optimization process.
- Another option is to reinstall the program: Uninstall the program and delete all associated registry and cache files. You can find out how this works in our Ccleaner tutorial. Then download and install the latest version of Geforce Experience here.
- If none of the solutions worked so far, deleting the "CefCache" folder could lead to success. It contains the user configuration files. First exit the program. The folder can be found via the path C: \ Users \ [user name] \ AppData \ Local \ NVIDIA Corporation \ NVIDIA GeForce Experience.
- Warning: The AppData folder is hidden by default. Learn how to display hidden files in Windows 10 here. Delete the CefCache folder and then restart your PC. You should now be able to optimize your games.
- If your installed game doesn't even appear in the list, you can add file paths to search for games using the Geforce Experience settings.
With these tools you improve your PC
If you've used the tips to get Geforce Experience up and running on your games again, it's worth improving your PC's performance as well. Often, outdated software or poorly configured hardware means that you cannot get the maximum performance from your PC. You can get more out of your PC with the following tools:
- The Razer Cortex optimization tool directly provides several ways to maximize PC performance. In boost mode, it ends all background tasks that are not needed during the gaming session. In addition, by cleverly distributing the CPU tasks, it ensures that they perform better when gaming. With the clean function, it deletes so-called junk files and defragments the hard disk.
- If you want to dig deeper into overclocking, you can hardly avoid MSI Afterburner. With the program you control your graphics card and can overclock it as you wish. However, you should only do this if you are really familiar with the topic, otherwise there is a risk of damaging your graphics card.
- With SpeedFan you control your fans and thus optimize power consumption, volume and performance. Especially when you play complex games, your fans have to work properly to keep both the graphics card and your CPU at low temperatures. The program helps you tailor performance to your needs. The following also applies here: If you are not sufficiently familiar with the topic, you should inform yourself well beforehand, otherwise there is a risk that the hardware will be damaged.
At some point the point is reached where Geforce Experience and other performance tools can no longer get anything out of your old PC. The next article will therefore show you how to assemble your own PC so that gaming is fun again.
