Recover Deleted Files: This free software helps
Deleted files can be recovered using free software. So that's annoying, but often not too bad if you accidentally deleted important files. We'll tell you which free rescue tools are available.
Recover deleted files - Here's how
With our rescue tools, you can recover accidentally deleted files, such as personal documents or important photos and MP3s.
- It doesn't matter whether the data was saved on the hard drive, a USB stick or directly on the smartphone or your camera. And even if you've already emptied the trash, our recovery programs often help.
- Basically, the sooner you notice your mistake, the greater the chance that you can restore the files completely and without errors.
- All of the recovery tools offered are self-explanatory and can be used permanently and free of charge without functional restrictions.
Recuva for Windows
The freeware Recuva can save data and restore deleted files: from hard drive, SSD, MP3 player or digicam.
- Recuva was programmed by the developers of the system cleaner CCleaner. However, unlike deleting data with CCleaner, you can use Recuva to save data that you thought was lost.
- All you have to do is select a drive and press "Scan". In just a few seconds, you have listed the deleted files found. For a better overview, you can alternatively display the finds in a tree structure.
TestDisk & PhotoRec
The open source program TestDisk is the free rescue for lost or deleted hard disk partitions.
- The software automatically reads the required information from your BIOS and then analyzes the hard disk structure. A check of the partition tables follows. If errors are found, TestDisk repairs the affected areas by itself or creates new partition tables.
- TestDisk comes with the PhotoRec rescue software that recovers deleted videos and photos from memory cards.
Disk Drill for Windows and Mac
"Disk Drill" for Windows restores files on hard drives, USB sticks and memory cards.
- The Mac OS recovery software "Disk Drill" has made the leap to Windows and is now available for download free of charge. With the freeware you can restore photos, music, videos or documents that have been accidentally deleted.
- "Disk Drill" scans and rescues important data from almost all storage solutions: In addition to internal and external hard drives, the free software also works with USB sticks, memory cards and connected MP3 players, cameras or smartphones.
