Recover deleted browsing history - does it work?
You cannot directly restore your deleted browsing history. But with a trick you can still check which pages you have visited recently.
Once you've cleared your browsing history, you usually can't restore it. However, you can check which pages you have visited in the cache. For example, pictures of pages you have visited are saved in the cache.
Firefox: restore browsing history
- Enter "about: cache" in the address bar and press Enter.
- Under "disk", click "List Cache Entries".
- Now you can see the links of all the websites you have visited.
Google Chrome: restore browsing history
To view the cache on Google Chrome, it is best to use the free program ChromeCacheView.
- Download ChromeCacheView here and open the application file.
- The tool lists all cache entries. With a click on "Server Time" you can sort the entries by date.
Internet Explorer: restore browsing history
- Click the settings icon in the top right corner and select "Internet Options".
- In the "General" tab, click on "Settings" under "Browsing history".
- With a click on "Show files" you open the cache folder.
- If you sort the files by date, you can read the Internet history from the files.
