The dishwasher is a practical helper, but it can happen that the water stops draining. As a rule, a few steps will help to fix the problem without the need for a craftsman.
Water in the dishwasher does not drain: Check the drain hose
In most cases, the water will not drain from your dishwasher due to a blocked or kinked drain hose.
- First pull out your dishwasher a little and make sure that the hose is not kinked. Otherwise enough water cannot be pumped out and it collects inside the machine.
- If the hose is straight behind the device, remove it. It is best to check with a flashlight whether the hose is blocked. If so, replace it. Matching drainage hoses are available in every hardware store.
- If this is not the case, empty the strainer before the drain. This may be full of foreign objects and the water cannot run off.
Drain pump clogged or defective
The problem can also be due to a blocked drain pump.
- If you can rule out a blocked strainer, you must dismantle the drain pump. This is located at the front behind the cover on your dishwasher. Most of the time, the pump is fixed with two screws and can be released quickly.
- Caution: It is important that you disconnect your dishwasher from the power before removing the pump.
- Check the device for blockages. Blow hard to loosen any foreign objects. If coarse dirt is visible, you can carefully remove it with tweezers.
- If the pump wheel can be turned easily, the component is intact and can be installed again. Otherwise we recommend that you replace the drain pump.
- In most cases the machine should now pump down again. You can tell that the pump is working by a quiet beep, even if the water should not drain.
Water does not drain due to defective electronics
In some cases, the electronics can also be responsible for the error.
- Check all cables for possible defects. If a cable is broken, you can repair it with a luster terminal. However, it is better to replace the cable.
- Take a look at the control board of your dishwasher. You can find out where it is located in the manual. If soldered joints have become loose due to overheating, have them repaired by a specialist.
- If all of the measures described have no effect, we recommend that you consult an electrician.
