Delete locked files in Windows - so it'll work
Locked files won't let Windows delete them that easily. The document is usually still open in a program or is required by the system. With a little trick you can also remove these files.
Permanently delete blocked files under Windows with the Unlocker
"The file cannot be deleted" - this dialog appears on Windows at regular intervals. With the free delete tool "Unlocker" you can still remove the culprits. But be careful: there is usually a reason that Windows locks the files. So be careful which documents you remove with the program.
- Install the unlocker. During the setup, the freeware tries to install other programs. Remove the check marks if you do not need the additional tools.
- Right-click the file you want.
- Start the deletion tool via the entry "Unlocker". A small window opens.
- Select "Delete" in the dropdown menu and confirm the message with "Ok" (see screenshot).
Tip: It is best to delete several files by selecting them via checkboxes.
