Getty Images: Use free images - you have to be aware of that
Using images from Getty Images is now free. In this practical tip, however, we show you what you should definitely consider when using it. If you incorporate the image incorrectly, you will receive a warning.
Free images - free and complicated: Getty Images
You should pay attention to the following points if you want to use images from Getty Images for free.
- You can use the royalty-free images free of charge, but only if you keep the viewer (frame). Otherwise you violate the copyright.
- If you want to place the images on a company page or a company blog, caution is also necessary. In this case, use the homepage or blog to promote sales - and then use is prohibited. No commercial use!
- Getty Images also prohibits use of recommendations and sponsorship. So you have to be careful if you run a blog with product reviews, for example.
- Getty Images allows editorial use of images. This means that you can embed the images in texts that you are reporting - provided that there is no commercial ulterior motive. The placement of images on social networks does not constitute editorial use.
- Also watch out for political, religious, medical, erotic and violent texts. Especially when a person is seen, the reader could relate the person to the text. Such use is prohibited by Getty Images.
- Remember to adjust your privacy notice when you include the images. The integration saves the user's IP address, which you must point out.
- Getty Images may remove the images or ask you to do so. It is therefore not certain that the pictures will always be preserved.
- Always read the terms of use and notes on the individual images. This will prevent you from being warned.
