Remove Gh0st RAT - Here's how
In this guide, we will show you how to remove the Gh0st RAT Trojan from your PC.
Instructions: Remove Gh0st RAT from the PC
Little is known about Rat Gh0st and its various types. First of all: If Detekt finds this Trojan on your PC, first of all look in the Detekt log file. It is often a false alarm.
- The log file can be found in the same folder as the executable detect file.
- Here you will probably identify ATI, the graphics card manufacturer, as the "culprit" for the alarm. According to the log file, the MOM.exe process of the ATI Catalyst Control Center corresponds approximately to Gh0st.
- Uninstall the Catalyst Control Center to check for suspected false alarms, and then run the Detect Scan again. You will then no longer find Gh0st on your PC.
- There is also another solution to avoid false alarms. Pay attention to the version number of the detector program. You can find the most current version of the tool on the manufacturer's website. This version has fixed some false alarms and bugs of the previous versions of the detector.
Detect: Remove Gh0st advice - no false alarm?
If you really have the Trojan Gh0st on your computer, you should set up your entire PC again for security reasons.
- It is often not enough to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.
- When you reach the "Where do you want to install Windows" window in the Windows installation menu, click on "Drive options (advanced)".
- At this point, first delete the partition with your operating system and then reformat it.
- If there are several partitions at this point or even several operating systems are installed, most of the partitions on the hard disk must be deleted.
- Only then is the Gh0st-RAT Trojan removed from your PC after a new installation of Windows. After reinstallation, run the Detekt program again on your hard drive.
