Send GIFs via WhatsApp - how it works
If you want to send a GIF file to a chat partner via WhatsApp, this now works without annoying detours. We'll show you how to easily send GIFs with WhatsApp.
Send GIFS with WhatsApp
Since WhatsApp update 2.16.15, iPhone users can send GIFs via WhatsApp. A few weeks later, the function was also released for Android smartphones.
- In iOS, tap the camera icon in the desired chat and select the "GIF" category in the lower left. You can then select the appropriate motif from a huge database of GIFs and send it.
- On Android you will find the GIFs in the emojis. To do this, tap the "GIF" button below the selectable emojis. Tap the magnifying glass icon to search for a suitable GIF.
- WhatsApp works with the Giphy service. In order to get the largest possible selection of GIFs, your search query should be in English instead of German.
- The GIF search is a little more convenient using suitable apps such as Giphy for iOS or GIF Quoutes for Android. Here you can send the GIFs to your friends directly from the app using the share button.
- If the selection is not enough for you, search for the keyword "GIF" in the App Store or Google Play Store. There you will find numerous other apps. With the Giphy GIF Maker you can also create your own GIFs online.
