Gimp: Clear selection - how it works
At Gimp you can only edit the current selection of your picture. In this guide, we show you how to remove it or extend it to the entire photo.
Clear selection in Gimp
With the first three icons in the tool box you can mark and select individual image sections. Gimp then only makes changes such as filters or effects in this area. If you would like to edit the entire image again, you must deselect it.
- To do this, click on "Selection" in the menu bar of Gimp and select the entry "Nothing".
- Alternatively, use the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [A].
- If you only want to mark a different section of the image, you do not have to deselect it. Instead, simply activate one of the selection tools in the tool box (the first three icons at the top left) and select the desired image section.
