With Gimp you can give your photos a special frame: the edge of the picture can be hidden in the transparent. We explain how you can create the chic effect.
Dissolve the Gimp image edge with soft focus in nothing
Gimp offers numerous plugins that decorate your photos with chic effects. One of them is the so-called "soft focus". This is exactly what you need for the picture frame effect:
- Select the rectangle tool and mark the center of the image. You can see how much space you should leave at the edge in our picture gallery.
- Click the quick mask icon in the lower left corner.
- Now select "Filter" in the menu bar and then click on "Distort" and "Rotate and press".
- Increase the "rotation angle" until the edge of the picture appears irregular, for example at "100". Enhance the effect with the "radius". Here you can usually leave the value at "1".
- Click on "Filter" and select "Blur" in the drop-down menu and then "Gaussian white pencil".
- Increase the radius until the edge blurs sufficiently.
- Remove the quick mask in the lower corner and invert the view via "Selection" and "Invert".
- Under "Edit" choose the item "Fill with background color" to complete the effect.
To make your photos even more mysterious, you can also add a smoke effect with Gimp.
