GIMP: Dock dialogues - so it'll work
With GIMP you can dock individual dialogs to the toolbox. So you have everything you need in one window and do not have to switch unnecessarily between several windows.
Dock dialogues in GIMP - this is how you proceed
- Start GIMP and navigate to "Windows"> "Dockable Dialogs". There you will find all windows that you can dock to the Toolbox. If you click on an entry, it appears in a separate window. "Brushes" is selected as an example in the screenshot.
- If your toolbox is not shown from the beginning, you can activate it with the key combination [Ctrl] + [B].
- Now drag the heading "Brushes" into the lower part of your toolbox. You can recognize the area by its blue color as soon as you want to dock a window.
- As soon as at least one element is docked in the toolbox, a small arrow appears next to the dialog. You can use this to access the "Add Tab" function, which you can use to access the same menu as in step 1. In this way, you can arrange additional windows in the toolbox and switch between them.
- However, you do not have to sort the windows in the toolbox. You can also find the same arrow in the dockable dialogs as in step 4 (marked in red). For example, you could now show all layers in a tab in the "Brushes" window with "Layers".
