- To create a droste effect in Gimp, you need the free MathMap plugin.
- After installation, open the desired image in Gimp and click on "Layers" in the bar at the top. Under "Transparency", select "Add Alpha Channel".
- Now use the selection tool to select the part of the image for which you want to create the droste effect. Then click on "Invert" under "Selection" and press the Delete key.
- Use the key combination "Shift + Ctrl + A" to cancel the selection.
- Now click on the "Filter" tab and select "MathMap" under "General". Under "Map" click on "Droste".
- Under "User Values" you have extensive options to adjust the droste effect according to your ideas.
