GIMP: Zoom out - that's how it's done
If you want to reduce a level in Gimp, there are two ways to get there. We present you with both procedures in detail.
Zoom out - this is how it works
If you want to downsize a layer and its content in Gimp, you can do it with just a few clicks.
- To do this, mark the level you want to shrink in the level overview.
- Select that from the Layer menu in the Gimp main window.
- There you click on the entry "Scale level". A dialog window opens.
- Here you can enter the desired height and width of the level and execute the scaling down with "Scale".
Reduce the Gimp level without changing the content
If the content of a layer is to be preserved in size, this is not a problem in Gimp. Here you only have to reduce the level individually.
- To do this, navigate to the "Layer size" entry in the "Layer" menu.
- Now you can set the height and width of the layer without scaling the size of the content.
- Confirm your entries with "Change size".
