Gimp: Connect levels - how it works
You can clear up your Gimp levels particularly quickly if you connect them and combine them into a new level. We explain how to do it.
Connect Gimp levels
In order to make your level management clearer again, you should summarize successful sub-steps in one level.
- First hide all layers that you do not want to include in the connection layer. To do this, click on the eye next to the respective levels in the level management.
- Now right-click on a layer and select "Combine visible layers ..." from the menu at the bottom.
- Adjust the settings of the merged level according to your wishes and confirm by clicking on "Unite".
- Now the contents of all visible levels are combined in one level.
Connect Gimp layers with two clicks
It's even faster if you only have two levels. You can link one level to another with just two clicks
- Right-click on the upper of the two levels in the level management.
- Now select "Unite down" and the contents of this level and the next visible one below will be connected immediately in the lower level.
- The name of the "new" level corresponds to that of the lower one.
- Make sure that hidden layers are skipped during this process. The advantage of this is, of course, that you have to manage fewer levels, but the visible result does not change.
