Gimp: Create your own brush
If the given brushes in Gimp are too small for you or have the wrong shape, you can create your own brush. In our instructions, we show what options you have.
Create your own brush in Gimp
- Open Gimp and use the "Window" tab to call up the bottom item "Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo ...".
- In the new window, switch to the "Brush" dialog.
- If you move the mouse over the symbol of the empty page at the bottom of the window, "Create new brush" appears. Click on this icon.
- Now the brush editor opens, in which you first have to enter a name.
- Then you define the size under "Radius" and decide with "Hardness" whether the edge may be transparent. With the remaining settings you can add effects.
Note: The brush will automatically be available the next time you use Gimp. These instructions are based on Gimp 2.6.10.
