Gimp: Create your own splash screen
If the Gimp start screen is too boring, you can create your own splash screen. In this practical tip we will show you how and where you can let your creativity run free.
Create your own splash screen with Gimp
- Open the following directory on your Windows PC: "C: \ Program Files \ GIMP 2 \ share \ gimp \ 2.0 \ images"
- In the "images" folder, create a copy of the "gimp-splash" file. Then open the original file with Gimp.
- Now you can edit the image or delete it completely. To do this, click on the "File" tab and finally on "New ...". There are no limits to your creativity when editing the picture.
- When you are finished designing, press [Ctrl] + [S] to save the finished image. Be sure to enter "gimp-splash.webp" as the save name and save it in the images folder (see second point).
- The next time you start Gimp, your own splash screen will appear.
The instructions refer to Windows 7 and Gimp 2.8. Read here how to create an animated GIF with Gimp.
