Gimp: Change individual colors
With the free image editing program Gimp you can change individual colors in images. We'll show you how it works.
For uniform color images: change individual colors with Gimp
Open the image you want to edit in Gimp. Select the color pipette in the toolbox and click on the color in your image to be replaced.
- Now click in the toolbox window on the color box that contains the determined color. If you do not see the toolbox, click on "Window" in the Gimp menu bar and there on "Toolbox".
- Then copy or memorize the "HTML notation in the open window. Then click on" Colors "in the menu bar and then on" Map ".
- At this point, select "Swap colors".
- Then click on the color box of the source color and paste the previously determined HTML notation into the "HTML notation" text field there.
- Enter the color that you want to replace the source color as the target color.
- Confirm the change with "OK".
For different hues in an image - how to change color areas
If your photo consists of different shades of green, for example, you only change a small part of the color with the first variant. In such a case, do the following:
- Click the lasso icon in the toolbar. Use the lasso to mark the area to be colored.
- With each mouse click you set a "corner point" - so you can select small areas precisely with the lasso function. The zoom function, which you can find under "View" -> "Magnification", also helps you here. Alternatively, hold down "CTRL" and scroll the image with the mouse wheel.
- Then right-click on the marked area and select "Colors" and "Colorize".
- Decide on a specific color and confirm with "OK".
