Gimp: Open eps file - so it works
You won't be able to open an eps file in Gimp. Because a few settings are necessary beforehand. We can help you with that.
Open EPS file in Gimp
If your photo or image is saved as an eps file, you can only open it in Gimp with a few tricks:
- Download and install the Gimp extension "GPL Ghostscript".
- Then go to Control Panel> "System".
- Click on "Advanced system settings" on the left. You may need to confirm User Account Control.
- Click the "Environment Variables" button.
- To add a new variable, choose "System Variables"> "New".
- Enter "GS_PROG" as the name for the variable.
- Use the path to the exe file from the Ghostscript as the value, for example "C: \ Program Files \ gs \ gs8.54 \ bin \ gswin32c.exe".
- Confirm all open windows with "OK".
- Now you can open the EPS file in Gimp without any further errors.
