Gimp: Draw shapes (triangle, circles, ...) - how it works
In this practical tip, we explain how to draw shapes such as triangles or circles with the image processing program Gimp.
Gimp: Draw shapes using the toolbox
- Either open the document you want to draw in first in Gimp or open a new interface via "File" and "New".
- You now need the toolbox. If you do not see the toolbox dialog, click on "Window" in the menu bar and then on "Toolbox".
- To create a rectangle or a circle, select either the rectangular or elliptical selection in the toolbox.
- Draw the shape on your surface.
- Then click the "Fill" icon in the toolbar.
- Change the color if necessary and then click in the shape. The rectangle or circle is now filled.
Draw triangle with the straight line
- If you want to draw a triangle, click on the "pencil" icon in the toolbar.
- Hold down your [Shift] key.
- Click in the surface and draw the straight line to your desired location.
- Hold down the [Shift] key until you have drawn the three connected straight lines.
- To move and edit the triangle, you have to select all three lines in the Layers menu.
