Gimp: lighten photos
In this practical tip, we will show you how to brighten photos with Gimp. Gimp allows you to lighten both dark areas in the image or the entire image.
Lighten photos with color curve correction in Gimp
Open the image you want to edit in Gimp.
- Click on "Colors" in the menu bar and there on "Curves".
- Here you can see a straight line that goes from bottom left to top right.
- To lighten dark spots in the image, lift the curve up a little at the bottom left.
- Generally, you brighten the picture pleasantly if you raise the straight line at a central point and thus create a curvature upwards.
