Gimp: smooth edges - how it works
Use the Gimp photo editing tool to smooth edges in a photo. In this practical tip, we will explain how this works.
Gimp: Activate scissors and the option "Smooth edges"
- Open the photo you want to edit in Gimp. To do this, go to "File"> "Open". Select the photo there and click "Open" again.
- Then select the scissors in the toolbox. If you don't see the toolbar, click on "Window"> "Toolbar" in the Gimp menu bar.
- In the "Tool Settings" check the "Smooth edges" option. If the tool settings are also not displayed, click on "Window"> "Dockable dialogs"> "Tool settings".
- Now drive around the edges to be smoothed with the selected tool. Then click in the selection.
- Then click on "Selection" in the menu bar. With "Enlarge" you expand and smooth the selection by the specified pixels.
- "Selection"> "Hide" blurs the selection across the specified pixels and fits more seamlessly against a new background.
