Gimp: Add new fonts - Here's how
In Gimp you can add new fonts, in an individual style for every occasion. We'll explain exactly how to do this.
Add new font to Gimp
Gimp loads all fonts installed on your operating system each time it is started. Therefore close Gimp, install the new font as described here and start Gimp again:
- Obtain your desired font, for example in the CHIP download portal.
- In special CHIP practical tips, we present special fonts for saving ink, for dyslexics, tattoo fonts, musical notes, royalty-free and old German fonts.
- Fonts are usually TTF files that are archived in a ZIP file. Open the ZIP archive and then the TTF file with a double click.
- A written sample appears. If you like the font, you can click "Install" to install the font for all common graphics and office applications at once.
- Detailed instructions on installing fonts under Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 and under Mac can be found behind the links.
