Gimp: Create arrows - so it'll work
If you want to point out something special in a graphic, it is best to insert arrows. This practical tip shows you how to create them with Gimp.
How to create arrows with Gimp
By default, you can't use Gimp to add arrowheads to lines. For this you need the plugin called "Draw Arrow".
- You can download the "Draw Arrow" plugin directly from the "GIMP Plugin Registry" website. Under "Attachment" click on "arrow.scm" and save the file in the scripts folder of Gimp under "C: \ Users \ USERNAME \ .gimp-2.8 \ scripts" (The file path may vary, depending on your installation directory),
- Now open Gimp.
- Click "Create Paths" in the toolbar.
- Click once in the drawing window with the left mouse button to set the starting point. Now click where you want the arrowhead to appear.
- Then click on the "Tools" tab at the top of the menu.
- Click on "Arrow ...".
- Confirm with "OK" and an arrow is made from the drawn line.
Windows 7 and Gimp 2.8.10 were used for this practical tip. We show you the most important functions of Gimp in this practical tip.
