GIMP: Draw a rectangle - how it works
In this practical tip, we will show you how to draw a rectangle in GIMP.
How to draw a rectangle in GIMP
- To be able to draw a rectangle with GIMP, you must first create a new document. To do this, click on "File" and then on "New" and define the essential parameters before you confirm the entry.
- In the toolbox, click on the rectangle at the top left of the screen and select it.
- Now drag the rectangle to the new page and position it as you like.
- Then click on "Edit" and then on "Redraw Selection" and define in this window how thick the line of the rectangle should be. For example, if you have entered "5" and confirmed your selection, you will already recognize your rectangle in the document.
Rectangle can be edited individually in GIMP
- You can also edit the rectangle individually.
- To do this, click on the fill icon in the toolbox, for example, and then select a color or pattern for your rectangle. Click on the rectangle and fill it with the color. Your rectangle will then look like the screenshot, for example.
- You can also specify a fixed position and a size for your rectangle at the bottom left.
- Tip: If you create a new layer before you position the rectangle, you can always move it later.
