Gimp: Outline the font - how it works
You can easily outline fonts with the image editing program Gimp and also add many other effects. This will make your pictures look even better and give them a personal touch.
Step 1: insert font with Gimp
- Open a picture with Gimp.
- Select "Text" from the toolbar.
- Click where you want to paste the font.
- Enter the text for your image in the editor and place it appropriately on your graphic.
Step 2: outline the lettering in Gimp
- Select the text on your photo and select the text layer from the Layers menu.
- In the context menu, click on "Selection from alpha channel". The text on your image will then be outlined with a dashed line.
- Select the color selection dialog in the toolbox and set the desired color for your border.
- Then click on the "Edit" tab and in the context menu on "Redo selection".
- A new window is opening up. Set the border style here. For example, select the line width or a stroke pattern.
- After you click "OK", the font is outlined and you can export the image.
