GIMP: Insert text - how it works
With GIMP you can easily insert text into your image. We show you how to do this in our step-by-step instructions.
Insert text in GIMP - this is how you do it
- Create a new image in GIMP or open an existing file.
- In the toolbar you will find a font symbol (see picture). Choose this.
- Now click anywhere in the picture to insert a text.
- A toolbar now appears next to the text field, in which you can format the font.
Move lettering in GIMP
When you have entered your text, you have to change the tool to move the font to another location:
- Select the move tool (see picture).
- Now click on the text to move it while holding down the mouse button.
- Note that you actually have to hit the script. For example, if you type an "O" and click in the empty interior, you have not selected the text.
If you miss your toolbox, we will show you in another article how to restore the Gimp toolbox.
