Gimp: Do white balance correctly
In this practical tip, we will show you how to use the "GIMP" image editing program to carry out a white balance.
Perform correct white balance with Gimp
Unwanted color casts often come from incorrect analysis of the ambient light. Such errors occur when your camera's automatic white balance incorrectly measures color temperatures. However, with "GIMP" you can also carry out a white balance afterwards:
- Start the photo editing program "GIMP" and open your photo.
- Now go to "Tools", "Colors" in the menu bar under the "Values" option. A new window opens in which you can adjust the color values for your image.
- Make an independent color correction under "All channels" with the "Automatic" button. If the desired success should not be achieved, you have to work with the pipettes next to it.
- Use the black dot eyedropper to click on the darkest point in the image on the left. You can also perform this step with the right white-dot pipette for the brightest value in your image (see screenshot). Confirm your settings.
