There are numerous alternatives to the Gmail email service. In this practical tip, we present five recommended freemail providers.
1. Gmail alternative: Mail.de
- Storage space: The storage space in the free package at Mail.de is 2 GB. The maximum size for an e-mail, including the file attachment, is 60 MB, which is significantly higher than the competition.
- Security: Mail.de has spam and virus protection for incoming and outgoing emails. The login is SSL-encrypted via HTTPS. You can set up an authenticator for even more security.
- Other functions: In addition to the Mail.de address, the free package contains ten alias addresses. In addition to the web interface, access is also possible via POP3 and IMAP. SMS can be sent via Mail.de for 10 cents each. Various premium packages are available for advertising freedom, more storage space and additional e-mail addresses.
2. Gmail alternative: Freenet

- Storage space: With GMX you get 1.5 GB of storage space for your emails, of which you can activate 500 MB by activating the mail check functions. The maximum size per email is 20 MB.
