Gmail: set and share custom themes
In Gmail, you’ve recently been able to set and even share custom themes. In a quick guide, we will show you how this works.
Set and share custom theme in Gmail
In addition to many designs provided by Gmail, you can also use your own photos for your mailbox:
- In Gmail, click the gear on the right and select "Themes" from the context menu.
- Scroll down to the Custom Themes section.
- Select the light or dark theme.
- In addition to a number of recommended designs, you can use your own photos from Google uploads or save an image from local storage in the "Upload photos" section.
- Once you have decided on an image, click on the blue "Select" button below. Your inbox will then appear in your own design.
- In the design overview, you can select the blue link "Share design" from the user-defined designs.
- In the pop-up window that opens, the design can be shared via link, email or Google+.
A Google account can easily be opened without a Gmail account. We will show you how to do this in another practical tip.
