Gmail: Add a Dropbox file as an attachment - how it works
With the add-on "Dropbox for Gmail" you can now add and send your Dropbox files as attachments in Chrome. This makes it easier to share Dropbox content via email. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip.
Send files from the Dropbox as an attachment via Gmail
Admittedly, you don't send the file from your Dropbox directly as an attachment, just a download link. This will then be inserted into your email. A positive side effect: you avoid any size restriction.
- Download the "Dropbox for Gmail" extension and install the add-on in Google Chrome.
- Then go to your Gmail account.
- As soon as you click on the red "Write" button in the top left, the text input appears.
- A pop-up now appears here (see screenshot).
- Click on the Dropbox symbol and log in with your access data.
- Now you can either upload a file from your computer to the Dropbox or select an already saved file.
- Once you have made your selection, click on the "Insert link" button.
- Now you can send the email.
- If you send the email to someone who uses a different email provider or uses Gmail without the add-on, they will of course still receive the file or link. To do this, the recipient is forwarded to your Dropbox account, from where they can then download the file.
