Gmail: Show only unread messages - how it works
In Gmail, you can only view the unread messages in your inbox. This is especially helpful if you get a lot of emails in Gmail and important messages keep sliding down the flood of mail.
Show only unread messages in Gmail
With chronological sorting, unread emails eventually disappear into the inbox on the second page. To view only unread messages:
- Sign in with your Gmail account.
- Enter "is: unread" in the search bar at the top.
- Below, Google only lists emails that you have not yet opened and read.
- The command also works in the Gmail Android app, where an option has so far been missing that can be used to display unread mail at the touch of a finger.
- In the web version, you can alternatively and conveniently select the selection button at the top left and click on "Unread".
