Gmail search: Find Google Drive documents too
You can also use Gmail Search to find documents that you have on Google Drive. This allows Google to search all of your data in the Google account.
Extend Gmail with Google Apps Search
Both Gmail and Google Drive each have their own search function, but it is often much more convenient to be able to search both places together with just one request. All you have to do is expand the Gmail email search with the corresponding Labs function of the email service:
- Open your Gmail mailbox in the browser.
- Now click on the gear on the top right and then select the "Settings".
- Switch to the "Labs" tab.
- Enter the keyword "Google Apps Search" (without quotes) in the search mask. The required Labs function is now displayed in the search results.
- First click on "Activate" and then on "Save changes".
You can now search your inbox and Google Drive at the same time in Gmail Search. Also read how to access your mail offline in Gmail.
