GMX: Set up incoming and outgoing servers
If you want to check your mail from GMX with a mail program, you need the incoming mail server and the outgoing server to set up the mail software. We give you the right data.
Incoming and outgoing servers from GMX
You have the choice to check your mails via POP3 or IMAP. Both standards have their advantages and disadvantages. Here is a comparison between POP3 and IMAP.
- If you use POP3, you need the address "pop.gmx.net" (port 995) as the incoming mail server. Use "mail.gmx.net" (port 587) as the outgoing mail server.
- If you use IMAP, only the incoming mail server changes to "imap.gmx.net". The outgoing mail server remains at "mail.gmx.net".
- Note: For the inbox, select SSL as encryption. You can choose between STARTTLS and TLS for outgoing mail.
