The Golf 6 is one of the most popular cars in Germany. Cruise control is not part of the basic equipment, so many owners would like to retrofit it.
- In general, you can retrofit a cruise control on your Golf 6. Since this is mainly electronic control and no mechanical changes need to be made, installation is relatively inexpensive. However, some models also need to replace the accelerator pedal, depending on the type of shift.
- On a Golf 6, the cruise control is switched on using the turn signal lever. There is a click on the left side that saves and keeps the speed. In order for the cruise control to work in your vehicle, you must install the corresponding turn signal lever.
Retrofitting cruise control on the Golf 6 - possible by yourself?
- You can retrofit the cruise control yourself, but this is associated with some effort and you should have manual skills. You have to disassemble the steering wheel and remove the devices underneath. Then you have to replace the turn signal lever with the turn signal with cruise control.

Retrofitting cruise control - it costs a workshop

- An original flasher lever from Volkswagen costs around 80 euros. However, you can also use a used one and have it installed in a workshop.
- For the complete installation, you should expect costs between 300 and 400 euros. If the accelerator pedal needs to be replaced, the costs are even higher.
- Despite the high costs, you should prefer installation in the workshop. Mainly because you have to remove and reinstall the steering wheel. In addition, you can then be sure that all electronic connections are installed correctly.
