Google app: Set up "Trusted contacts"
With the "Trusted Contacts" app from Google you get a good emergency app at hand. This practical tip shows you how to set up the app. In this way, you can give your family and friends the opportunity to query your location in the event of danger.
Google "Trusted Contacts" - the principle behind it
The free Google app "Trusted Contacts" or "Trusted Contacts" offers a good and quick security check for selected contacts. The principle is simple:
- They store your personal trustworthy contacts and give you the opportunity to query your location. You can of course block this request if you don't want to be located at the moment.
- However, if you do not respond to the request within a certain time, Google assumes an emergency and sends the current or the last known location to the contacts.
- In addition, if there is a danger, you can also send your location to all contacts yourself and ask for help quickly and easily.
"Safety First": How to set up the Google safety app
So that you can be found in an emergency or in case of danger, you must first set up the app. This is done in a few simple steps:
- If you open the app for the first time, you will first be shown a small tour of what the app can do. You can only select your contacts at the end. If you see the start screen, click the "Add contacts" button.
- You can then select your personal contacts from the phone book. All contacts with a stored email address are displayed.
- After you have selected your personal contacts, click on "Add" at the bottom right. If you just want to test the app first, please note that these people will be informed about it directly by email.
- Once you have saved your contacts, you can share your location yourself by clicking on the location icon at the top right. You can then share your location with friends or send a warning to all your personal contacts that the location is shared.
- Your selected contacts will receive an email and can also install the app or access it via the browser. If your location is requested, you will receive a push notification and can decide whether you want to share or hide your location - unless you are in danger, then your location will be automatically shared after a certain time.
