When you buy a new device, you naturally want to move the Google Authenticator to the new phone or tablet. We'll tell you how to do it.
Connect Google Authenticator to new device
- Log in to your Google account and open the administration for the "Confirmation in two steps".
- Here under "Google Authenticator App" click on "Move to another phone".
- Then select the phone type of the new device.
- You will now see a barcode that you need to scan with your phone. If you do not have a scan app or if the scan does not work for other reasons, you must set up the account manually.
- To do this, open the Google Authenticator and select "Set up account" from the menu.
- Under "Enter code", first enter the email address that is connected to the authenticator as the account name.
- Then enter the code that is shown below the barcode.
- Now set "time-based" and confirm the process with "Add".
- After you have added the account to the app - via barcode or manually - you will receive a code that you must enter in the window in the browser.
- Note: When you are finished, the authenticator is disabled on your old device.
