Google Chrome: remove notifications
Google notifications in the Chrome browser can be useful. However, if you find them annoying, just remove them from Google Chrome. We'll show you how to get rid of the troublemakers.
Remove Chrome notifications permanently
In the Google Chrome browser, you can decide for yourself which notifications you will receive and which not. The notifications for important appointments in the Google calendar, for example, often prove to be quite helpful. Of course, you can also deactivate the Google notification service. This is how you get to the settings:
- In the Chrome address bar, type "chrome: // flags" (without the quotes). Then deactivate the following entries, if they exist:
- "Enable formatted notifications"
- "Enable synced notifications"
- "Google Now"
- "Notifications about discovering new devices"
- Restart Chrome for the changes to take effect.
Regulate Google's notification behavior
There is also a second method:
- First, go to the Chrome menu button, located on the right side of the toolbar, and then choose the "Settings".
- In the "Settings" menu, select "Show advanced settings".
- Then go to the "Data protection" area and click on the "Content settings" button.
- In the dialog box, you will discover three options under "Notifications" to regulate the notification behavior of Google Chrome accordingly.
- This includes "Allow all websites to display desktop notifications", "Show confirmation when a website wants to display desktop notifications" and "Allow no website to display desktop notifications".
- Also note the "Manage exceptions" option. Here you can make individual fine adjustments and delete old entries if necessary.
- Don't forget to confirm your choice with "Done".
