Google Chrome has stopped working. You can do that
When Google Chrome stops working, it can get pretty annoying. In this practical tip you will read possible causes and possible solutions.
If the Chrome browser stops working - these solutions can help
- Check that your browser is up to date. To do this, click on "About Google Chrome" under "Help". If your browser is not up-to-date, an update will be downloaded automatically, you only have to restart the browser once.
- You should also check that your extensions are up to date. To do this, click on the three horizontal lines at the top right and then on "Tools" and "Extensions". Clicking "Update extensions now" installs the latest updates (if any) for the extensions.
- Try deactivating all extensions to help you localize the error.
- Your Windows may also be out of date. Go to the "Windows Update" setting in the Control Panel to check whether updates are available for your PC.
- Drivers can also be out of date. Go to the manufacturer's website to find out or download the latest drivers.
- Antivirus and firewall programs can also be the cause of the crash. Make sure you have the latest versions installed and Chrome is added in the exceptions.
- You may also have caught a virus. Therefore, check your entire PC for viruses and malware with your antivirus program.
- If these tips don't help, you can try creating a new user for Google Chrome. To do this, open the "Settings" using the three horizontal lines at the top right and click on "Add new user".
- If your computer is up to date and your extensions work smoothly, you can uninstall and reinstall your Chrome browser.
