Google Chrome doesn’t display any images - it could be because
If Google Chrome suddenly stops displaying images, this can have various causes. In this practical tip, we explain what can cause the error and how you can fix it.
Faulty cache prevents images from being displayed
In most cases, a problem with the browser cache is responsible for the missing images. It often helps to simply clear the cache:
- In Google Chrome, click the Chrome menu button (three horizontal bars).
- First select "Tools" and then "Clear browser data".
- In the new window, select the period "Total period". Make sure that at least the checkmarks for "Clear browsing history" and "Clear cache" are set. The option "Delete cookies and other website and plug-in data" can also be helpful in some cases (see picture).
- Click on the "Clear browser data" button. Then restart Google Chrome.
Disabled display of images in Google Chrome
You may have switched off the display of images in the options:
- Click on the button for the Chrome menu and then on "Settings".
- Select "Show advanced settings".
- In the "Privacy" area, click the "Content Settings ..." button.
- Make sure that the option "Show all images (recommended)" is selected in the "Images" area (see image). Then click "Done".
Chrome: Other possible causes of image problems
- Try a different browser! If the images are not displayed there either, there is probably a problem with the website and not with Chrome.
- It may also be that a browser extension prevents the images from being displayed. In this case, it can help to remove any extensions you have installed in Chrome since the problem occurred.
- If the problem still cannot be solved in this way, you can reset the browser to the default settings. To do this, it is best to follow the linked instructions.
Finally, you can also reinstall Google Chrome cleanly. We have summarized information on this and other tips for problems with Chrome here for you.
