Open Google Docs files in Word - does it work?
If you wrote a document in Google Docs on the go, you can later open it in Word and edit it further. In this article, we show you exactly how the interaction works.
Open Google Docs in Word - so go ahead
The cooperation between Google Docs and Microsoft Word usually works excellently. You can synchronize the Docs documents both manually and automatically:
- To manually synchronize the Docs document, first go to your Google Drive Cloud.
- There you select all documents by ticking them. The Docs documents are later summarized in a ZIP file.
- Then go to "More" in the menu bar and click on the "Download" option in the drop-down menu.
- Word is usually already preset in the "Convert and download" menu, otherwise you will find it in the text document list.
- Finally click on "Download".
Automatically sync Google Docs documents
- On the left side in the Google Drive Cloud you will find "Connect Google Drive to your desktop computer". Click on the option and download the software.
- After you have installed the program on your computer, you can now conveniently save the Docs document in Word format on your hard drive at any time.
- To do this, go to the "File" tab in the Docs document and select the "Download as" option in the context menu. In addition to Microsoft Word, you are also offered Open Office, PDF, Rich Text or HTML, for example.
Tip: You can also edit PDF files with Google Docs.
