If you want to back up the files on your computer or mobile phone externally in the cloud, you can do this with Google Drive. We'll show you how to do it step by step.
Instructions: Create a backup on the PC with Google Drive
If you use an Android smartphone, you can back up the most important data on Google Drive in the settings. In the following instructions we will show you how to create the backup on the PC.
- Download the free Google Backup & Sync tool.
- Then start the installation and click on the "Start now" button.
- Log in to your Google account and then select all the folders on your PC that you want to synchronize regularly with Google Drive.
- Google Drive only offers limited storage space for photos and videos, usually 13 GB. If you select the "High quality" option instead of "Original quality", the images are compressed a little online. You will receive unlimited storage space for this.
- In the last step, you can also decide whether you want to integrate the "Storage" folder into your Windows system. This is a Google Drive folder in which all data is automatically synchronized, i.e. uploaded.
- The first backup is started with the "Start" button. Depending on the size and number of selected files, the backup can take a long time.
- You can then access the synced files and add new files from anywhere via the following link or mobile via the Google Drive apps.
