Google Drive: sharing doesn't work - what to do?
In this practical tip, we will show you what you can do if the Google Drive share does not work.
Google Drive sharing settings for people who’re not signed in
If you want to share a file with someone who doesn't have a Google account, follow the steps to share it.
- Right-click the file you want to share in Google Drive and go to "Share" and "Share".
- Under "Authorized access" click on "Change" next to "Private".
- Now select "Everyone who has the link". Anyone who has the link can now access the file.
- Under "Access" below you may have to set "Can edit" instead of "Can view".
- Confirm by clicking on "Save".
Invite people - provide correct email addresses
If you want to inform people about the shared file, you can do so in the sharing settings via "Invite people". Please note that you enter the correct email address here.
- If you selected "certain people" when sharing the link, you should enter the person's Gmail address under "invite people".
- Change the type of access for the individual in the sharing settings. You can choose between "Can edit", "Can view" and "Owner".
