Instructions: Connect Netflix to Google Home
To control Netflix via Google Home, you need a Chromecast on your TV or a TV with an integrated Chromecast.
- If you have set up Google Home and the Chromecast, start the Google Home app on your smartphone.
- If you see both devices, tap the device icon in the top right corner.
- If you see on the Chromecast that voice control is disabled, turn on voice control here.
- Then go back to the main menu and select the "Account Settings".
- Under "Media accounts" you can now select Netflix and connect the service to Google Home.
- From now on, you have the option of using Netflix on your TV with a voice command.
Control Netflix by voice command from Google Home
Each voice command begins with "Hey Google" or "OK Google". With some commands you have to name the device. You can see how you called your Chromecast in the device overview in the Google Home app. In our example, the Chromecast is simply called "Chromecast".
- The "Play Series / Movie X on Chromecast from" command starts playback on the Chromecast. If more video services are available for Google Home in the future, use the command "Play Series / Movie X on Chromecast on Netflix from".
- Most important are the commands "Pause on Chromecast", "Resume on Chromecast" and "Stop on Chromecast". If you missed something, you can fast forward / rewind the time with "rewind X minutes on Chromecast forwards / backwards".
- With "Next / Previous episode on Chromecast" you can skip entire episodes back and forth in series. With "Switch subtitles on / off" or "Switch subtitles in English" you can also adjust the subtitles by language.
